Education & Workforce Summit

Description

The Education & Workforce Summit focuses on education as it relates to workforce development, STEAM, CTE (Career Technical Education), elementary, secondary, and higher education programs in our community.  The academic scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and community involvement. 

Join us for breakfast, visit exhibit tables and network with fellow community members. Our keynote speaker is Delegate Glenn R. Davis, House of Delegates, Chairman Education Committee. Delegate Davis will give an update on the Education Policy in Virginia and share his thoughts on the future of education and workforce.

Glenn Davis represents Virginia’s 84th House District in the Virginia General Assembly. Glenn is a lifelong entrepreneur who began his business career in a one-bedroom apartment in Virginia Beach, Virginia when he was 26 years old. There, he started his first company, which soon became a leading national telecom business garnering many awards and in 2007 was named by the Inc. 5000 as one of the 100 fastest growing IT companies in America.

In the Virginia General Assembly, Glenn is one of Virginia’s leading advocates for economic development, regulatory and tax reform, and helping grow Virginia’s small businesses. He is also one of Virginia’s leading champions for students and families. He was instrumental in the formation of Green Run Collegiate, a charter school connected to the Green Run community where he grew up, and has led the fight in Richmond to strengthen charter schools and expand school choice for Virginia families. Glenn Davis is the current Education Chair in the Virginia House of Delegates, a committee on which he has served since taking office in 2014.

Glenn and his wife, Chelle, live in Virginia Beach with their goldendoodle, Nixon. They are both very active in the community and charitable efforts throughout Hampton Roads. Prior to joining the House of Delegates, Glenn was twice elected to the Virginia Beach City Council, in 2008 and 2012.
