Kathy Harper started her career at the US Information Agency whose mission was to tell America's story abroad. She worked at the Voice of America, in the Motion Picture Service, the Press & Publications Service, the Legal Office & the Office of the Associate Director. Kathy transferred to the Board for International Broadcasting, leaving that agency when she relocated to Warrenton.
Kathy's husband, Bill, spent his career in advertising and marketing with newspapers, magazines, and ad agencies. Bill designed and developed a friendly, direct-mail advertising option to fill the need business owners had to establish a relationship with potential clients that they had not been able to reach.
Kathy and Bill's Discovery Publications was incorporated on February 14, 1991. Discover Western Prince William and Discover Fauquier newsprint publications’ current circulation is over 72,000 homes. Discovery has grown with its community and their needs for more than 30 years. The printed papers, mailed each month, work to connect residents with retail and service businesses, local government programs and officials, non-profit organizations, school programs and officials, outstanding citizens, and fun and meaningful community events.
