Meet the Keynote Speaker
Oliver North is a combat decorated U.S. Marine, #1 best-selling author, founder of successful small businesses & holder of three U.S. patents. For 18 years he was a syndicated columnist, a war correspondent and host of “War Stories” on FOX News Channel. In May 2018, he retired from FOX News to become the 66th President of the NRA. He now serves as CEO of Fidelis Publishing, a faith-focused publisher.
North was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1943, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1961, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1968 and served 22 years as a U.S. Marine. His awards for heroic, selfless service in combat include the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Hearts for wounds in action.
From 1983-86 he served as Counter-Terrorism Coordinator on the National Security Council staff where he organized the rescue of U.S. hostages, the elimination and capture of terrorists and raids on Muammar Gadhafi’s terror bases in Libya; after which he and his family were targeted for assassination by Abu Nidal’s Islamic Jihad. President Ronald Reagan described LtCol North as “an American hero.”
In 1990 North co-founded Freedom Alliance, an organization providing aid to severely disabled U.S. Military personnel, Gold Star families and active-duty military personnel. His Freedom Alliance “Heroes Scholarships” have provided unparalleled opportunities for children of service members killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.
North is acclaimed for award-winning FOX News coverage of more than 60 U.S. and allied military units in combat, his long-running “War Stories” documentary series and as the author of 20 best-selling books. Yet, he says his greatest achievement is being, “a God-fearing husband, father of four and grandfather of eighteen.”
LtCol North and his beloved wife Betsy celebrated 56 years of marriage on 13 November 2024. Three days later, she departed their home in Clarke County, Virginia to confirm the words of the Marine Hymn, “… the streets of Heaven are guarded by United States Marines.” Betsy is interred at Arlington National Cemetery where she awaits her husband’s arrival.
