The Military, Veterans & Public Safety (M.V.P.S.) Council invites our Women's Leadership Council to this meeting. As we honor Veterans this month, the Council wants to support Women Veterans/Leadership for this meeting.

Potomac District Supervisor/Vice-Chair
The Honorable Andrea O. Bailey


     Supervisor Andrea Bailey is entering her second term as the Potomac District Supervisor. She is a champion of mental health services and the county’s Crisis Receiving Center, as well as the community’s homeless shelters. She is an active member of the 

  • Executive board of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington
  • Prince William County and a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 
  • Charter member for the Prince William County National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.; 
  • Awarded the “Women in Achievement” award from the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Gainesville/Manassas Alumni Chapter, and Top Ladies of Distinction, Prince William County & Stafford County, Va. Chapter.  
  • Former member of the National Association of Professional Women, of which she was given the Who’s Who award of Professional Women
  • Past Executive Committee member for the Prince William County NAACP. 

More importantly, Supervisor Bailey was a military spouse for 23 years to a strong civic leader focusing on voter registration and political engagement. Lastly, she is a proud caregiver for her mother.  

 

Dr. Vanessa M. Gattis

President & CEO of Prince William County Community Foundation (PWCCF)

     A decorated military leader turned nonprofit trailblazer, Dr. Gattis brings strategic vision, unwavering discipline, and a heart for people to everything she does. After nearly 31 years of honorable service in the U.S. Army, where she rose to the rank of Colonel, Dr. Vanessa Gattis retired—but not to rest. Instead, in 2018, she founded the Prince William County Community Foundation (PWCCF), driven by a deep commitment to service, equity, and community empowerment. Her work bridges sectors, unites partners, and delivers real results for real families.

She is an active member of the:

  • Board of Veterans Services, Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Life Member
  • Past Chair for the Prince William County Veterans Commission, Woodbridge District
  • Awarded the 2024 Prince William County Human Rights Award
  • Awarded the 2024 Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit of the Year
  • Awarded the 2024 SPARK Business Partnership of the Year
  • Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB), Prince William County Public Schools
  • PWC Alumnae Chapter and Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
  • Wilberforce University Alumni Association, Life Member
  • Author of the newly released Fiction novel, “Unexpected Guests: Family Bonds”

She often says, “Service didn’t end when I took off the uniform—it just took on a new form.” Through the Foundation, Dr. Gattis continues to lead from the front, proving every day that “Together, WE Can Make a Difference!”
