Manassas Ballet Theatre’s 17th Annual Colin J. Wolfe Memorial Golf Tournament

Our golf tournament aims to unite our arts patrons in support of all Manassas Ballet Theatre programs, enhancing the quality of life in Northern Virginia by offering accessible and affordable professional ballet performances, with a particular focus on benefitting our Educational Outreach initiative.

In memory of ColinJ. Wolfe, the son of Amy and Mark Wolfe, who grew up dancing with the Manassas Ballet Theatre, performing each year through 2005. In June 2005, Colin enlisted with the Marine Corps, graduating in September 2005. Colin was deployed to Iraq in July, 2006. He was killed by a roadside bomb only seven weeks later on August 30, 2006.

The Educational Outreach program is a joint venture involving Manassas Ballet Theatre, Prince William County Schools, Manassas City Public Schools, SPARK (the PWC Schools Education Foundation), and the Hylton Performing Arts Center. This program presents professional ballet performances exclusively for students during school hours, free of charge. The selected classes kick off with an educational video introducing them to the Hylton Performing Arts Center, Manassas Ballet Theatre, the ballet production process, and guidelines for being a respectful audience member.

On the day of the performance, students are transported to the Hylton Performing Arts Center to experience a top-notch ballet production in an esteemed venue. Each show concludes with a question and answer session, allowing students to interact directly with Manassas Ballet Theatre performers and artistic staff. Back at school, teachers incorporate elements of the performance into the Standards of Learning (SOL) curriculum. This program provides over 7,000 school children annually with exposure to a professional arts event that might otherwise be inaccessible to many.
