Parisa Fetherson
Branch Director, Personal and Professional Development Programs, MCB Quantico
Parisa is a native of Baltimore MD and is a retired U.S. Marine Sergeant Major who served 26 years on active duty. She holds a BS degree in Social Psychology, a MS degree in Education, and is a Certified Career Management Coach. After retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps, Mrs. Fetherson worked at the USMC Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, as a Victim Advocate Training Specialist and subsequently worked as an Education and Career Specialist, at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Education Center.
As Branch Director, Personal and Professional Development Programs, MCB Quantico, she oversees programs and services that enhance the personal and professional readiness of service members and their families. Programs include Transition Readiness, Voluntary/Higher Education, Personal Finance, Relocation Assistance, Family Member Employment, Family Readiness, and Volunteer Coordination. These programs provide resources and tools that assists service members and their families with navigating the military lifestyle as well as enable their operational readiness.

To Honor Local Veterans By Telling Their Story
Jim was born and raised in California, graduating from California State College at Long Beach in 1968. He entered the Navy flight training in October 1968 in Pensacola Florida. This was the beginning of a 26-year Naval Career. After receiving his wings 1970, he qualified as an AEW pilot in the E-1B. He was fortunate to deploy in both the Atlantic and the Pacific and had assignments to Scotland as an exchange pilot and to the Naval Academy as a Company Officer. During his career he accumulated more than 5000 flight hours and a thousand carrier landings on several aircraft carriers. He commanded an E-2C Hawkeye squadron during a successful cruise on USS Forrestal. He finished his Naval career at the Pentagon serving on the Joint Staff. During his service, he earned a master’s degree in Personal Administration from Southern Illinois University and a Masters in Defense Studies from the Naval War College. He retired from the Navy in 1993.
After retirement. Jim started the Naval Junior Reserve Training Corps at Osbourn Park High School in 1993. He taught at Osbourn Park for 18 yrs. retiring from Prince William County Schools in 2010. He was elected president of the board of directors of the Freedom Museum in 2011, serving for 6 years. He started another term as BOD President in 2021. He is married to Cdr. Pamela Porter USN Ret. and lives in Manassas Va.
